Grasscloth Mirror DIY

A few years ago I bought this mirror from Ikea. 

It has been great and I have loved having a nice full length mirror in our home. I kept looking at it and thinking it needed something or maybe I should paint it. As some of you know anything Ikea is a pain to paint because none of it is real. It is a plastic type finish that seems to resist paint. So after flipping through a recent West Elm magazine I decided I needed to add grasscloth to my mirrors frame. 

I bought some beautiful grasscloth from Wallpaper Plus in Atlanta. I didn't want to ruin the frame just in case the end product was a disaster, or later down the road I get tired of this look too. (you can tell I like to change things up a lot)

I started with the top and bottom and then added the side pieces. 

I used my handy dandy hot glue gun and in about 1 hour I was done. 

I am still debating on adding nail heads...you know my obsession with those too!

Delivery, Delivery

I left you guessing at what my coffee table was going to look like last week. 

Well here it is in all its glory.

Since I chose marble for my dining table I knew I had to fulfill my zinc obsession with a coffee table.

I had it made from a company called SDS Designs based out of Florida. They are a dealer at Scotts Antique Market every month. Steve and Nancie were great to work with and made the table just like I wanted. 

I thrilled with how it turned out. The Zinc top is beautiful and the color of the wood stain is exactly what I needed for my living room. 

I am in love. I also had Steve build me a console table. I sent him pictures of tables that I was looking at and he once again did an awesome job. I love how this table gives me some height and allows me to display some of my other Scott's finds and photos. 

He made this table for me in one week so I could get it at the show. I would highly recommend SDS Designs if you have any upcoming projects. Send them a picture and they can build it.

Sneak Peek & a Cutie

It is almost Scotts Time! I am counting down the hours. This month is extremely exciting since I will be picking up not 1 but 2 tables I am having built. I can't wait to see them and bring them home.

Getting Grid-y

I have always loved the look of art hung in a grid pattern. I knew I wanted to put this look somewhere in our house and finally decided over the couch was going to be the perfect place. Here are some of my inspiration photos.

 I had a pretty big space and I knew it was going to take a lot of frames...I didn't realize at first that 15 was going to be the magic number. 

 It took me about a month to collect all 15 frames. I ended up choosing a frame from Wal-Mart; it was $9 and came with the style mat I liked. That was going to save me extra $$. 

 The problem was Wal-Mart only carried about 2 or 3 of these guys at a time. Uhhhh, I drove all over this city and even had my mom looking for me in south Georgia. 

 After I collected them all I decided that I wanted the frames to be gold. Then another week went by so I could get them all shiny and golden. 

Here is the end result over my couch with my new pillows.

 I filled the frames with colorful abstract art that I love.  Once we got the center three hung it was a piece of cake hanging the rest. 

I really like how the art takes up so much space and really adds so much color and warmth to the room.

Pillow Talk

I just got my pillows back from my seamstress. I am so excited to finally have some throw pillows on my couch and chairs in the living room. It took me forever to find the right mix of fabrics that I wanted. 

 I found the fabric at Mary Jo's Cloth Store on the way to Charlotte one weekend. I cut some samples and once I got home and realized I loved them I called to order the fabric and it was at the door by the end of the week. 

I still love shopping at Lewis and Sheron and Forsyth Fabrics, but I have been dying to go to Mary Jos for a while and it was pretty awesome and the prices are $6-$8 cheaper per yard.

I can't wait to show you how the new art display above the couch turned out!

Wonder what's at C. Wonder?

I am so excited C. Wonder has opened in Lenox Mall. I have seen the signs for months and have been waiting to go and check it all out. 

The store is bright and fun and super colorful!

 They have everything from clothes, to jewelry, to shoes, to pillows, to plates, to dog toys and even electronics!

 I even got wesley to go in and look around...impressive!

I'm feeling gray

You may remember this piece of furniture I got a while back. It was originally army green.

At the time, we lived in an apartment with boring beige walls and I needed to spunk up our entryway.

So this piece got a little lift with some orange paint. 

It was the perfect fit for our entry. 

Bright and cheerful!

It wasn't fitting in at our house. I'm not sure what it was but I just couldn't stand that orange color anymore against our white walls. It needed another makeover, I knew gray was my color. With an open Sunday, 2 cans of Spray Paint, and new hardware I am in love again.

Even the inside got a little chevron liner love

It now lives in our Laundry room, which also got a little face lift the past weekend too. More to come on that. 

I love that this little piece can be transformed so easy.
